This page hosts images of the Sun that are observed frequently (2-3 times per week) depending on the Sun's activity and the weather conditions. The images are created using the video frames stacking technique. For the video capturing, a mirrorless crop camera and an apochromatic telephoto lens are used. The videos are recorded in UHD (3840x2160 pixels) analysis with a 24 fps frame rate and with the lens set at 500mm focal length and an aperture of f/10. At the end of July 2021, an 1.4x teleconverter lens has been also installed. The current pixel scale of the set-up is ~1.1 ''/pixel. A solar filter is set in front of the lens to reduce the sunlight intensity. Each image contains three planets and the Moon in scale-size for direct comparison with the spots sizes.
From early 2021, the Sun has entered the 25th (observed) cycle (~11.5 yr period) and the predicted maximum of solar activity is anticipated between 2025-2026. The number of spots per month can be found here.
